Failure is a legitimate option!
When we fail, we learn and grow.
This morning I had a nice lazy ride with a buddy. We went late, did only 19km and finished with a coffee. My friend like me paints on the weekends to relax. She is a high performer at work and struggles to destress during the week. High levels of stress lead to sleep issues, making eating healthy and exercising more challenging.
Learning through Creativity
We discussed what kind of painting we planned to do that afternoon and why we liked the medium we did. My buddy does oils, and I do acrylics. Part of that is that it is just easier for me to clean up. We both shared that our artwork is shit. But since it's not our main job, we are both trying to live with enjoying an activity that we aren't much good at. That said, I've seen her artwork, and it is much better than she thinks it is.
Learn then do
We have spent time watching videos and researching techniques to improve. For me, learning is part of relaxation. I spend time during the week watching art tutorials, and I have also been sketching. Then on Sunday, I give a new technique a go. Some of it works, some of it doesn't. The point is that I took steps in a new direction.
