Finish The Damm Book

Why is it so hard?

For the last few weeks, I have been feeling low-grade sad. I reflected on why and concluded that it was situational. It's the end of the year, and I haven't done what I set out to do this year.

Not one for half measures. My plan for the year was to publish four books. I am sad because I have published precisely none. Worse, I'm not sure I will finish my book by the end of this year.

But as in the way of the universe, I am currently reading two books. Well, actually, I'm reading four books, but that's another story.

The two books I'm currently reflecting on are Oliver Burkman's Meditations for Mortals: Four Weeks to Embrace Your Limitations and Make Time for What Counts and Cal Newport's Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout.

Today's meditation in Meditations For Mortals was "Finishing Things." It's ironic in some ways, as I most needed it. But I came to this realisation last week.

But here's where I reflected on the Slow Productivity of doing less.

In that book, Call Newport suggests you set a five-year goal and then halve it.

Gulp.

My five-year goal is to be a full-time writer with twenty published books.
