Try, try, try again

I always find it interesting to deliver a new program as I have the opportunity to work through new concepts. One such concept I have recently come across is the power of self-doubt and limiting behaviour. As adults, we have learned what we are good at and what we are not good at, and we tend to stick to what we know, limiting our growth mindset.

Challenge your growth mindset

I have been trying to challenge my growth mindset through learning new activities or re-igniting old ones. As such, I have started to paint again to unplug and have more productive weekends. I haven’t painted since high school, and the reason for this is that I am not good at it.

But that is okay. I don’t need to earn money as an artist or even a writer. The point of these two activities is to do something that I enjoy. To produce pieces of art that gives me a sense of accomplishment. That helps me express myself in ways I can’t in a typical working day.

I enjoy watching artists on YouTube sharing concepts and activities. I try to challenge myself to try some of these out on the weekend. I don’t hide my art from my friends when they visit, but nor do I whip it out or put it on Instagram like my kids’ art. I have in mind eventually producing a nice large art piece using colours I…
