It turns out I’ve been reading incorrectly

How is that even possible?

If I had slowed down for more than five minutes and asked myself, I probably would have found the answers. But I didn’t. I stated I would read intentionally every day, and I bought a book a read it.

My university student knew how to read, learn, retain and retrieve information much better than my always in a hurry to get to the next item on my task self.

I have now refined that goal by setting a limit of thirty minutes and started to look at the systems that will help me sustain this new habit.

Yesterday I started by getting all the books I wanted to read into one place. I will need to look at an app like Readwise, but that will need to wait for now.

I then googled “How to read better.” YourTube kindly showed me a list of hundreds of people talking about this exact topic. I selected YouTubers I was already familiar with Matt D’Avella, Ali Abdaal, Robin Waldun and Thomas Frank.

Matt’s youtube was the least helpful for me personally. The main reason was he was exploring reading physical books and using a paper-based tracking system. I can’t do that. I live in a tropical country. Our humidity is often 100%. I return my valuable books to Australia as they get mouldy and musty here. I was frequently sick…
