My 2025 Affirmation

I Can Choose to Put Down the Weight of My Expectations.

I have set an affirmation for the year for the past three years. I write these in my journal after I do my three things to be thankful for.

My Affirmations are:

  • I am enough.
  • I am beautifully imperfect.
  • I can choose to put down the burden of my expectations.

I adjusted this sentence from Oliver Burkman's book Meditations for Mortals. It fits in with my plan for 2025.

I will slow down, do less and focus on what is important to me. My health and my family.

Everything else comes after I’ve spent time on those two priorities.

Interestingly, Grammarly wants to remove the Choose part of my statement. I get it. It’s grammatically unnecessary, but I want it to remain my choice.

Because I am the one who gets to decide when and where to drop or adjust my perfectionistic tendencies.

I set myself high expectations. I’m okay with that most of the time. Part of what makes me me is my high expectations and perfectionism. They’re not just going to disappear.

But when I’m overwhelmed, I can look at my priorities and expectations and decide.
