Starting in January 2023, I began the practice of reading nonfiction for thirty minutes daily. But I didn't just want to read the books; I wanted to curate my list and capture the key points.

This is my intentional reading practice. After some trial and error, I settled into a routine, which became a practice, and I plan to make it a lifelong habit.

I've had some difficulty this year, but I keep trying to make it a priority. I use Notion to track the books I read. My rating system is a scale of 1 to 5, with five being the best and one the worst. For extra special books, I have the additional category of life-changing.

The list below is the eight, so far, life-changing books I've read since 2023.

The Body Keeps the Score: Brain Mind and Body in the Healing of Trauma, Bessel van der Kolk

This book was a revelation — I hadn't realised how much childhood trauma impacts adults…
