What I have learnt journaling for personal development
As an executive coach, I have been recommending for years that if you want to change a behaviour. It would help if you were journaling about it.
I bet you know how often I journal myself…
Yep! That would be — never.
I came across an interesting article on cognitive journaling around the same time I was chatting to a friend about the practice. I felt it was worth a try, and of course, I have done nothing about it.
The reasons I have not done so are that I forget. It isn’t a habit yet, and so I never remember to do it. I have been trying to schedule my day and do 30 minutes of writing on my novel and write one 500 word article a day. Plus, any additional writing activities I do. I find that I run out of steam when it comes to writing more.
To help me overcome all of these challenges, I have taken the following steps.
Created a google form with three preset questions.
This way, I type a reply to the question asked. My answers are saved, and then I am done. As all responses are collected in an excel sheet, it is easy to review when I want to do so.
I have scheduled it for 8:30 am every day with a direct link. This way, I get a notification reminder to do it. I have to click on…
